👉The operating companies of Tata Group have to be run as per the wishes of majority shareholders, Tata Trusts, which has more than two-thirds stake of the holding company Tata Sons, the recent NCLT ruling said.
👉Transfer of shares of listed companies has to essentially be in dematerialised mode from December 5, according to markets regulator Sebi.
👉The finance ministry may approach markets regulator Sebi to seek relaxation on the minimum 25 per cent public shareholding norm for some public sector banks (PSBs). There are 13 PSBs including IDBI Bank, Bank of India in which the government holding is more than 75 per cent.
👉To check financial frauds, regulator Sebi has proposed a new set of norms for auditors and other fiduciaries working with listed firms, under which defaulters will face stringent penal actions, including ban from securities markets and disgorgement of fees.
👉After drilling fear in taxpayers through increased scrutiny in the last few years, the Narendra Modi government is now cracking down on "tax terrorism", the hounding of ordinary taxpayers by the tax department. However, this doesn't mean the government has stopped its war on tax evasion. It has decided to focus on the big fish instead. Recently, the chief of the all principal chief (I-T) commissioners to closely monitor and resolve all cases of "highpitched" (unreasonable) tax demands
👉The GST Council may meet on July 21 to consider bringing jet fuel (ATF) and natural gas under GST ambit but tax slab is acting as a deterrent.
