👉Alarmed by a nearly Four-Fold Rise in GST compensation to states for June-July, Finance ministry is Crafting a Strategy to boost GST revenues and engaging with states to identify issues hindering their collections. The Centre paid Rs 14,930 Crore to Compensate States for revenue loss incurred in June and July, a nearly four-fold jump compared to Rs 3,899 Crore paid for the months of April and May.

👉The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has started working on the second phase of weeding out shell companies. After sending show-cause notices to 225,000 companies, 70,000 have been struck off and another 100,000 will go soon. In the second phase of action against shell companies, the MCA is also trying to trace the directors of 'vanishing' companies

👉RBI begins Special Audit of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) after the firm defaulted on repaying around Rs 250 Crore Worth of Inter-Corporate Deposits to Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI)

👉RBI is likely to conduct an Open Market Operation (OMO) Purchase this week to Infuse Liquidity into the Banking System. Under the OMOs, RBI Buys Certain Government Securities from the market, which thereby provides liquidity to the system.

👉Amitabh Chaudhry of HDFC Life appointed CEO & MD of Axis Bank who will take his charge from January 1, 2019, after incumbent Shikha Sharma steps down at the end of this year. He will take over as MD & CEO for 3 years from January 1, 2019 and will remain in office till December 31, 2021.
